This book, wow...
At an impressionable age, and I think that in high school one is still impressionable, I was being bombarded by my peers not to start smoking, but rather to accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. My Mormon, Baptist, Catholic and Calvery Chapel friends all had the Jesus, and everyone was bing Born Again all over the place. Hell, our President had lusted in his heart and said Jesus forgave him, so maybe my alternative-lifestyle lustfulness could be similarly forgiven.
But the Holy Bible convinced me that it was all hokum and nonsense. Too many contradictions, too many unbelievable tales of floods and salt pillars and walking on water and coming back to life to suit my logical mind, so I concluded that Christianity and, really, believing in God just wasn't in the cards for me and from that day to this - with a few slippages of faith - I have remained an Atheist.
Thank you, Jesus!
